Miss Hannah turned 4 months several weeks ago. I'm just a little behind on the blog. Weston's been really busy at work which then makes my job at home really busy. But time moves on whether we want it to or not, and her 5 month birthday is fast approaching.
Hannah was 23.5" (25th percentile) and 13lb 2oz (50th percentile) at her 4 month appointment. She had another round of immunizations, and the nurse took a little longer this time administering them. So poor girl cried a little bit more than the first time. But she bounced back wonderfully and was just a little sleepy the rest of the day.
Right when Hannah turned 4 months, she started to sleep regress which I hear is pretty typical. We were trying to get her sleeping in her own crib and unswaddled. Naps were lasting 10 minutes before she started crying for me, and nighttime felt like her newborn days. Our pediatrician recommended letting her cry it out and going in every 5 minutes at first to reassure her and then every 10 minutes and so on.
It was tough at first. The first few nights were long, but after a week, she had the sleeping on her own thing down. I feel renewed as her mother, and she is happy with her new routine. She is so much more well rested and even has an earlier bedtime. I can lay her down after I feel her relaxed in my arms, and she will go to sleep. She's like a different baby with her sleep habits. She occasionally wakes up still in the early morning, but before I give her the 5 or 10 minutes to settle herself down, she is back asleep on her own! Right now as I'm typing this, she is taking a nice long nap in her crib. I've been able to shower, blow dry my hair, make the bed, and type this post. And with Weston working the entire weekend, it is so nice to have time for a shower.
4 months has been the "magical" age for us. We still have the reflux issues, but overall she is much less fussy and more content on her own. She loves playing in her jumperoo for short periods, and she has started to giggle. We still haven't had a belly laugh yet. So we'll keep on making funny noises, silly faces, and tickles until she does. Doesn't this girl realize how funny her parents are?!
Hannah just recently started blowing rasberries. It's a wet mess and adorable all at the same time. We're still breastfeeding and started giving rice cereal once a day.
Yep, life is pretty good at 4 months, and this makes us all pretty happy! Happy weekend!
